Willie Ted Bennett, age 86 of Burnsville, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, June 18, 2022. A resident of Yancey County, he was the son of the late John H. Bennett and Carrie Miller. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers: Lester Miller, JB Bennett, Bascomb Bennett and Roy Bennett.
Willie served four years in the United States Air Force with the 464th Supply Squadron. He was also employed with Lyons Construction. He enjoyed farming and gardening, fishing and car shows.
Left behind to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Yvonne Bennett, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Brother Robert Norris will officiate. Sgt. Emmit L. Randolph Chapter No. 57 Disabled American Veterans will conduct veterans’ burial rites at the Bailey Hill Cemetery in Burnsville following the service.
Pallbearers for the service will include Mickey Ray, Gary Banks, Philip Taylor, Brian Ray, Ryan Ray and James Smith.
