JoAnn Phillips Obituary

JoAnn Allen Phillips, age 63, formerly of Burnsville, passed away Friday, March 26th, 2021 at Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Madge Tipton Allen. She was the wife of Charles Henry Phillips, who passed away in 2017. She was also preceded in death by four brothers: Ray Allen, Larry Allen, Steve Allen and David Allen.

JoAnn took great joy from her garden and was a firm believer in Miracle–Gro.

Surviving is her daughter, Jennifer Miller DiRisio and husband, Vincent DiRisio of Gray, TN; two grandchildren, Skylar DiRisio and Ariel Stewart; sisters: Jan Ledford of Johnson City, TN, Joyce Letterman of Weaverville, Donna Allen and Christine Hensley of Burnsville; brothers: Fred Allen, Bobby Allen, and Jerry Allen, all of Burnsville; and longtime friend, Ernie Bradford of Bald Mountain. 

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 29th in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Rev. GE Freeman will officiate.  Private Burial will take place in the Bee Log Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for memorial donations to be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation at 7460 Warren Parkway State 150, Frisco, Texas 75034 or at www.nbcf.org.
