Obituary

Freda Whitson Grandt, 61, of Mooresville, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2023 at her residence.

She was born on April 9, 1961 in Yancey County, NC, to the late Albert and Opal Johnson Whitson. Freda enjoyed reading and working in her vegetable and flower garden. She was always laughing, joking, and loved being with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Kent Grandt; brother, Gary Whitson; and sister, Carcie Lee.

She is survived by her son, Tyler Grandt and companion, Christina Kelley; stepson, David K. Grandt, II; sisters, Ronna Jones and husband, Roger, Betty Brawley, Donna Jones, Darlene Vincent; and grandchildren, Zara and Santiago Grandt.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 8 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 9 at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Graham officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
