Duane Carl (Bo) Wheeler

Duane Carl (Bo) Wheeler, age 78 of Burnsville, NC, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 24th, 2022 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC, surrounded by family. A native of Yancey County, he was born on February 1st, 1944 to the late Carlos Clayton and Ophia Wheeler. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his three siblings: David Wheeler, Paul Wheeler, and Thelma Wheeler Robertson.

Bo loved the Lord and was a faithful member of the Indian Creek Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter and loved being outdoors. Bo taught us the importance of loving the Lord as well as those around us, especially family. We have many fond memories that we will cherish forever.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Mike Wheeler (Cindy) of Seneca, SC, Jeff Wheeler (Hongli) of Durham, NC; grandchildren: Jacob Wheeler, Justin Barnes (Kirstie), Adam Barnes (Dee), Jessica Justus (Dustin), Mikayla Rhew (Cody); great grandchildren: Allie, Lucy, and Charlotte Barnes, Ean Rhew; and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly, as well as his former wife and friend, Louise Wheeler.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 2nd, 2022 at 12:30 p.m. at Indian Creek Baptist Church at 1800 Indian Creek Road, Burnsville, NC 28714. The family will receive friends at 11 a.m. Pastor Charlie Foster will officiate. Burial will be held in the Academy Cemetery in Burnsville following the service.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks for all the love, support, and prayers during Bo’s sickness.
