Dennis McCurry, age 84 of the Ivy Gap community, passed away Friday, January 8th, 2021 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Carl and Viola McCurry. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Don McCurry and sister, Atlas Fender.
Dennis worked as a finisher at Drexel Heritage and Henredon, both furniture companies, for many years. He enjoyed nature and he loved fishing, squirrel hunting and gardening.
Surviving is his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Francis Thomas McCurry; sons, Randy McCurry and wife Chloe of Burnsville and Tim McCurry and wife Julie of Mars Hill; daughters, Marlene Rhodamer and husband Alan of Hampstead, NC and Cindy Greene and husband Nathan of Bakersville; nine grandchildren: Courtney Tabor and husband Caleb, Justin Moore, Paige and Ryan Coker, Garrett and Pierce Greene, Jesse and Jordan Ledford and Hanna Rhodamer; five great-grandchildren: Camilla and Maximus Tabor, Liam and Rayden Coker and Reagan Ledford; sister, Ruth Pate of Burnsville; also special friend, Jr. McCurry and several nieces and nephews survive.
Graveside Services will be held Monday, January 11th at 1 p.m. in the Holcombe Cemetery. Family will receive friends and loved ones from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers. Reverend Adam Bradford will officiate. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Blue Ridge Hospital for their excellent care and consideration.
