David Lamont Henson, age 68 of Burnsville, passed away Sunday, September 5th, 2021 at his home surrounded by family. A native of Yancey County, he was the son of the late Paul Young and Ruby Jean Henson. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by paternal grandparents: George and Sally Young; maternal grandparents: Zeb Henson and May Bell Barnard Henson; brothers: Drennon and Mickie Henson and Otis Young; and aunt-in-law, Christine Effler Henson.
David enjoyed woodworking and collecting angel figurines. He worked as a mechanic at several different places throughout his life, such as Avondale Mills, Baxter Healthcare and OMC.
Surviving is his first wife, Wilma Henson; second wife, Marie Davis Henson; children, Janice and David Jay Henson, William and Chris Davis; grandchildren: Tameika, Shane and Trey Henson, Erica Davis, Brittany Davis McFalls and Autumn Davis Robinson; brothers: James Paul, Rockey and Kevin Young, all of New York; sisters: Brenda Zebrowski (Mike) of Burnsville, Theresa, Yvonne, Denise and Hope Young, all of New York; uncle, Chester Henson of Burnsville; and special friends: Madeline Young, Blue Young, Darrel Wilson, Corey Chandles, Derwin Barnette, Dave, Christel and Sophie Sims also survive.
Viewing will be held Saturday, September 11th from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Private interment will take place in the Marietta Atkins Cemetery in Burnsville.
