Cora Lee (Fox) Bailey

Cora Lee Fox Bailey, age 81 of Burnsville, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, February 20th, 2021 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late John Isaac and Lydia Wright Fox. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Hugh Bailey, in 2003; a son, James Michael Bailey; brothers: Homer Fox, Carmon Fox and Gene Fox; sisters: Juanita Gibbs and Gail Crisp.

She was a member of West Burnsville Church of God. Cora Lee enjoyed working in her garden and crocheting, but above all, she enjoyed taking care of her family and especially her dog, Little Bit.

Surviving are her two sons: William Fredrick Bailey of Montana and John Douglas Bailey of Burnsville; two daughters: Rebecca Shepherd and Doug of Burnsville and Kris Roberts of Waynesville; brothers: Daniel Fox of Green Mountain and Melvin Fox of Nevada; sister, Patsy Hatfield of Burnsville; grandchildren: Stephen Shepherd and wife Casey, Emily Hensley and husband AJ, Elizabeth Shepherd, Luke Bailey and wife Amber, and Danielle Roberts.

Graveside Services will be held Wednesday, February 24th at 2 p.m. in the Zion Baptist Church Cemetery on Green Mountain. Reverend Stacy Elkins will officiate. Cora Lee will lie in state Tuesday and Wednesday until the time of services, for those who wish to view her.
